Phoenix Children's Hospital Garden Railroad

PCH

The ABTO Club was chosen to head up a train layout project at Phoenix Children's Hospital. The project was started by the passing of Bert Smith who upon his death had willed all of his trains and equipment to the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Former ABTO President Ed Dunshie along with the help of Rick Cartwright, Ennis Thompson and John Meyers got the project started. Volunteers are also needed along with donations of money to support the on-going layout maintenance. If you would like to help or just make a donation please contact our ABTO Maintenance Director Jerry Mckenzie at abtomaster@msn.com

August 2007 Update

In the beginning:

In the beginning:

The first train operation and Ed Dunshie introducing Betty Smith at the hospital dedication.

In 2005:

You have heard about the ABTO trains at The Phoenix Children’s Hospital under the direction of Jerry McKenzie, but not all of you have seen the outdoor atrium where the trains entertain and bring joy to all the children, doctors, staff, and visiting families.

In 2006:

On February 8th Paul Holdeman and his crew, completed the pond and waterfall and it is a great addition to the train atrium. The first week of May was a busy time for Ennis Thompson who hauled rubble, dirt and rock into the hospital to build up an area for the village.  The dedicated ABTO crew that volunteer their time at PCH will make this another eye catching scene of the quality we’ve come to expect.
