From looking at a picture of a Virginia common grist mill, John scaled the dimension of the building to 1:24 scale using the door as a 6’ reference. The final dimensions of the model are 14”x11”x14”, not including the foundation, made of cut stone and cement. Then John constructed the building with cedar and hand split the shingled roof. He painted the resin water wheel with red enamel paint to create a focus point.
